Is it normal that they pant while trying to lay an egg?

It's been hot here, but even when it wasn't as hot I noticed that the girls pant, some more than others, when they're sitting in the nest boxes. They've all just started laying. Is this normal?

I'm new to chickens, and only have my one, but when she is getting ready to lay an egg, panting is part of her normal routine. So I think it's normal.

at present, mine don't stop panting. It's 1AM and still over 90 degrees out there... on it's way up to 112 and heat indexes nearing 118.
