For a first time layer to lay a soft-shelled egg.Plus she did it from the roost and not in the nest boxes so it broke of course but I picked up the sort of shell and left the yolk for them to eat. They get plenty of calcium and protein and treats for more protein and I also crush eggs and feed them back to them. Am I doing something wrong?

No your not doing anything wrong. It is not uncommon for the first egg to be soft. Their bodies are going through a transitional period and usually by the 2nd or 3rd egg it'll be hard.

Sometimes it takes a bit for them to get everything sorted out and in order. If she continues laying soft shells add oyster shell but, if you think they are getting enough calcuim give her a few days.

I wouldn't let them eat raw eggs. It promotes egg eating. You can cook eggs and mash them up and then feed it back to them for a treat though.
