Is it ok to give chicks chicken feed?

We ran out of chick starter and started to give our 4week old chicks regular chicken feed,
They eat it. But is it good for them?

You should give them chick feed again because some nutrients in chicken food can damage their bodys.

4 week old chicks cannot have layer feed. It will damage their kidneys and inner organs. But, they can have scratch. What does regular chicken feed mean for you?

It depends on whether it's a grower formulation or a layer formula. Grower is probably ok for 4 wk old chicks (although I keep my chicks on medicated starter to their first egg). Layer pellets are not good for chicks as the fee contains too much calcium which can harm their kidneys and growing bodies. Get them back on a chick starter ASAP.

It is "okay" to give them chicken feed if you don't want to or can't get chick or grower feed. Done it many times and the chicks grew up allright.

I would not feed them scratch only, it's not a complete feed and the chicks on that didn't do too well.
