Is it okay for my 5 week old ducklings to eat frogs?

Ok, so my duckling still has the diarrhea on and off, but they were laying snuggled up with the roosters and my duckling stood up and blew his diarrhea all over the rooster!
My rooster scream got up and ran around flapping and shaking himself off.
OMG I almost peed myself. I had to share, lol.

I don't have ducks, I've never had them. My husband suggested getting them, so I'm starting to read threads as I'm intrigued, and I come across this. Omg you guys, I laughed so damn hard I not only had tears rolling down my cheeks, but I could barely read this to my husband, AND I snorted while trying :lau:gig:yuckyuck
I need ducks in my life! Lol

Yes yes you do! Everyone needs ducks in their life. Ducks are hilarious. (super gross at times) But the laughs are worth it.

After following this thread from the beginning and noting the long term digestive distress caused by the supposed frog, I am beginning to wonder if the poor duck didn't eat a toad instead... Are you sure it was a frog? Frogs are not poisonous and should not have caused all this long term distress. People eat frogs! Toads on the other hand are poisonous and exude nasty stuff from their skin. Could it have been a toad that your duckling ate? They look a lot alike, but they are different... https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...F51DDB28E6384F186E0BF51DDB28E6384F1&FORM=VIRE

I remember the first time my hens caught a snake - they ran around with that thing like it was the Stanley cup lol.

The snake was just a baby red belly about 6 inches long. Harmless, just like a garter snake. The duckling flipped it around for a few seconds and then it was down the hatch.[/QUOTE]

Blah ha ha ha!
When one of my call ducklings was little it grabbed a HUGE slug and the fight was on. The other two chased him all over heck and half Acres trying to take it from him as he done everything he could to choke it down. They finally got him in a corner.. When I finally noticed that he was about to choke to death!
Ya. Even the other ducks couldn't pull it out of his mouth. I had to intervene. Talk about gross.
Good thing he was so stinking cute.

Believe me, I have been an outdoor girl all my life. I know the difference between a toad and a frog. Besides my duck dug his bill to the bottom of the pond until he pulled that frog up. A toad will hide in moist, dark areas, but not in mud at the bottom of a pond, lol.
Thanks for the concern though :)

Soooo adorable!!!! I'm glad you got it out. I get scared sometimes they are gonna choke on the stuff they eat.
Its funny how my two are inseparable until I have some type of food and then they are bitter enemies until there is none left, and then they love each other again:rolleyes:

@AMoritz - Don't get me wrong, I love my chickens, but ducks are just more fun. Very messy, but worth it.

My ex (who I live with part time – long story) was trying to get back to watching a program after a phone call tonight and I'd been stifling giggles through the entire call. Just as he lifted the remote and hit play, I said I HAD to read ONE THING.
He sighed, muttered about how he'd get to watch tv again "someday", and waited for me to gather my wits. I then snorted through a reading of the duckling spraying down the sleeping rooster for the whole room.

PANDEMONIUM.

:gig:gig:gig:gig

No one could BREATHE for the next few minutes, as we were all in tears and shrieking, setting each other off into fresh peals every time we'd get calmed down.
Once we'd all settled back down, he shouted "OH MY GOD! MARIO AND GINGER!"
We immediately lost it again, over his sister's dogs. She's the one he'd been on the phone with, and years ago, she had two dogs. Mario was intact and Ginger was having her first heat. She was due to be spayed *after* her first heat, and in the meantime she was wearing diapers, was separated, etc.
Well. There was a family party and someone didn't know not to let her out of her room. Cue the yelp from Ginger and the blood-curdling screams. Everyone runs inside one door, and the dogs run OUT the other! Ginger is high-speed rocketing around the yard, and Mario… is scream-yodeling... while running on two legs… as fast as he can. Everyone runs BACK outside, and Ginger runs back IN. Once inside, she somehow gets Mario stuck against a piece of furniture and dislodges him with a pop. Mario faints, Ginger walks back to her room, and everyone decides to go HOME. LOL

So. . my Cayuga ducks are not meat eaters apparently.
I picked up the feed pan tonight and a little mouse ran out from under. . I dropped the pan pinning its tail underneath. All the ducks ran over to investigate. . and just stood there looking at it. And looking at me like well, whatcha gonna do about that? :lau
They wouldn't go near it!! So I killed it. Tossed it out in the yard. They still wouldn't touch it. They all just went to the doors of their houses waiting for their bedtime snacks. :th
