Is it okay to let chickens clean-up garden at end of season

My chickens love the garden. As long as you don't use chemicals in there they should be fine and when we clean the coops out we pour the shavings directly into the garden and then it gets tilled in. they love tomatoes, watermelons, heke I don't know of anything my girls turn down. lol

Awesome, I was hoping I would be able to let them in this fall as a little treat:) I don't use any chemicals at all, so it should be safe for them. Thanks so much for the advice everybody!

Our chickens must think it is already "clean-up" time. They have been free ranging all summer and they didn't bother the garden. This week they decided they wanted to eat our cucumbers and zucchini. If they go after DW's watermellons or cantaloupes they might be in trouble!
