Also, the ceiling definitely needs to be a light color.

I don't know about the "no white" thing. White ceilings and trim are very popular right now, and that looks like a small room. White will make the ceiling seem further away. You could do some interesting things with a valance hung between the two "swooping" parts -- or even some sort of shelf.

It's technically wall- if you paint the angle nearest the window your ceiling color it would look really interesting, methinks.

I usually get the painters job at my house,and that curved part would probably be painted as part of the ceiling.
