is it possible to tame a hamburg?

I'm sure you could! You could also look for a friendlier bloodline. I got my bantam Hamburg hen from a breeder at PPBA, and she's incredibly friendly and sweet! She actually flew on to my shoulder the other day, and does not mind being handled at all. She comes right up to me when I go in the coop.

Hi,
I understand Blue Hamburg is the largest and have read it is a bit less active. So maybe give that one a try. (Some day I want to try some myself. I like the idea of a small efficient prolific layer.)

My kids play with our EE chickens every day and the are real tame. I would imagine one could get hamburgs to not "hate" you with enough handling.
