X2 I don't own a pitbull (although our Boxer X English bulldog has been mistaken as one by people who think all "bully" type breeds are pitbulls
) but I do think that calling owners of pitbulls idiots is rather harsh. My neighbor owns a pitbull who has never acted aggressively at all. Ever. Their Chihuahua (Taco Bell dog) has, however bitten me unprovoked. Luckily, her teeth were so small they didn't cause much damage. She was later put down for biting their toddler in the face.
OK...this is my first post on here, I am new. So hello and nice to meet you all. To the person who lost her silkies, so sorry, yes the neighbors should repay you, and hopefully they do.
I'm with the group that says "tell the neighbor" Since we have a trailer park across the street, there is a lot of turn-over. So, when a new dog starts messing with my birds I have the deputies drive across the road and give the owner a warning about the dogs. The second time, no more dog. Then another call to the SO to have them go to the trailer park and give the neighbor the bill for the birds and tell them to pick up the dead dog. If they don't want to come pick up the dog, my "removal fee" is $100.
Sorry, I don't feel generous enough to people like that to let them assume that puppy found a happy home somewhere else. Nope, you are an idiot and because of that your dog is dead.
First off, I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your silkies
. But I am glad to hear she is going to attempt to repay you some how.
Second off, as an owner of two pit mixes I'm can say people like you, al6517, make me sick. I trust my two pits with my chickens, as for my neighbors "little taco dog" I would let my pits tear that thing apart in a split second if I ever saw it some on my property to harm my livestock or another animal. The terror has attacked my chickens and my cat. I don't care who you are, you are in denial if you think that it doesn't matter how a dog is raised, and that it is all based on genetics and breeding. As for your neighbor they are an idiot, and give pit owners a bad name. Also the chances you could actually identify a pit is very slim as a bunch of 'pit' looking dogs are just bunched together. I take my dogs to the dog park and they get along with all the dogs, no pack mentality, although they are sisters and have been raised together. They get along with my neighbor's dog so they aren't territorial, and they play with my cat and my neighbors rabbits. But I can guarantee you the moment they caught a opossum snooping around the coop it was dead on sight. Your 'little taco dog' probably would run and hide if it was ever faced with a choice as to defend you with it's life or run scared. I would never expect my dogs to do that, or ask that of them, I have a gun for that purpose, but I know they would. THAT is what they were bred for, they are called nanny dogs for a reason. My nephew and nieces can play with them all day, crawl, sit, lay on them and they never respond. They are loyal and yes they can look scary, but to judge a whole dog breed on certain incidents is just like racism, but you are so close-minded you probably don't realize that.
