Is Monia Growing? *Pics*

Sadly at times failure to thrive can be a sign of something not right internally. But they can survive. I have a little disabled fellow living here- almost 2 years now that was so very tiny for so long. He has ended up not far off a full size duck.

Where did you get them from? Being three different colours it is most likely they do not all have exactly the same parents so genetics may play a small part in the size difference- although that alone would not explain the huge difference between them.

I bought them from Metzers.

Its a green bottle, and it has round tablets in it. If you cant find it any lwhere let me know (PM me) I will make sure you get some... It helped my last baby who was miniture. He didnt die because he was miniture, he got to cold one night...

I PM you, because I cannot find the bottle only packets and they are all crushed powder, and then there are 10 different kinds of powders..

When your Nutri drench gets there start putting drops into her bill. just at the edge though so she doesn't get it into her lungs. it has niacin in it... you can also get baby parrot food and feed her some of it to help with nutritional needs. pet stores carry it.

Ok. What is in the baby parrot food that will help her? I do not think she will eat anything unless she sees the other 2 eating it, but I will give it a try.

I just saw on utube how to make baby parrot food and it was Purina cat chow food and warm water and bird vitamins. mixed in then mash up the cat food until mash. I don't know if a duckling would eat that or not. i have seen people recommend it though. Some folks feed Purina puppy chow to their ducks, but only as a top dressing and I haven't seen them do this for a duckling. When do you think you'll get the Nutri drench?

Oh ok. I will give it a try. What bird vitamins? I am hoping the Nutri Drench comes in the next few days. I had to order it and there was no express shipping for it, so it will take at least a week. Which I believe is only 3 or 4 more days now. Could I mix it with their water and give her a drop in her mouth? Or is that too much?

the directions will be on the bottle for the nutri drench.

I'd just wait on the Nutri drench, and what are you going to give a try? making parrot food? they may eat it, My drakes loves it when I cook for my dogs, beef kidney beef hearts, he gets some too. if you decide to try the cat food. just give small amounts along with their regular feed. and make sure to offer them grit. and yes when you get the nutri drench just put a small amount along her bill she'll get it into her mouth or just a drop or 2 right inside her bill. you can also add it too her water,

I had a tufted runt duckling, named MINI Cooper (after my car). For several weeks she was so much smaller and rounder than her siblings. I was told that she could have some health issues (nervous system or something like that) in the future.

Well, it's about a year later and she's doing very well. After a couple of months, she caught up to her siblings. She hasn't had any health problems and is a sweetheart!

Best of luck to your little one. I just wanted to give you some hope that.

The nutri drench just came in the mail today, right after I posted here lol. And yes I was going to try the parrot food. I gave her a little bit of the nutri drench around her bill and added it to the water. She seems to have perked up, she looks around when I whistle for them and shes standing up/running around more. I am going to see how she does the next few days, and on pay day if shes not changing at all I will try making the parrot food. What vitamins do I add to the parrot feed mix?

Oh ok. Well I hope Monica is just slow growing and catches up soon, like yours did. They are all beautiful by the way!

I'm sorry for your loss! I've lost a couple special needs duckies and it seems so much harder. I think it is the bond that is formed by all the extra care you give them. Monica is now in good company with Low Rider (duckling with no use of her legs) and Boxer (the Muscovy that was hatched in a box and left behind by momma when she couldn't get out by herself).

Oh my gosh I was so shocked to hear this, I know I was hoping she would just start to grow and be a happy lil duckling with her sissys, I know you are heart broken and we are all heartbroken with you, I would contact the hatchery and let them know about her. And thank goodness for your other 2 that can bring you comfort at this time.
