I'm very new as well. But I posted a picture of some of mine, (Rhode Island Reds) and one of the others on the site said that one of mine was a rooster, another one is an early bloomer. The one they said was a rooster is really read in the comb and under the chin. The early bloomer is still no where near red.
my grandfather swore bye this method and has worked for me hang the bird by its feet upside down a roo will try to fly up and a pullet will hang there with her wings opened hope this helps......
Im very sorry to disagree, but your bird looks to me like it is definitely a male. Also it is not a barred rock. It has feathered legs, so I am thinking a Barred Cochin or a mix.
