Is my Blue Orpington actually Lavender, with the shredder gene?

Where does your hen above fall on that scale? Mauve or dark mauve?

I believe she's technically Splash and Chocolate. So she'd be a Splash Mauve. There's no SOP for the color, though. So people just breed for what they like the look of. I find if they get too light I don't like them.

Thanks for the info!. I originally got my “blue” Orpington because I really love the light with the darker outline that you see in blue birds, but I also didn’t realize when I got her that based on her down she was most likely not a blue. Living and learning lol.
