Is my chicken a pullet or cockerel?

Our friend gave us the chicken and coop about a month ago, all was good until this morning our chicken made a loud noise which got me thinking we may in fact have a rooster lol.

Could be. Did your friend mention what breed this chicken is and how old?

He literally took it from a chicken park we have here in my town which have thousands of chickens running around. I would say it is maybe 3-4 months old. No idea of the breed.

Chicken park? What is that? He seems small to be a rooster at that age but it's hard to tell from the photo. But looking at it something says rooster to me could you get a photo from above

If he starts crowing and I take him back to the park will he get beaten up by the other roosters. I become very fond of it but we live in a small suburban area and we did not want a rooster lol

If you can, get it a friend or two. They really don't like to be alone. They feel more frightened than when they have some friends. Since it's growing, you want it to feel safe so that it eats properly and stays healthy. It is hard to tell what sex it is right now.

So we have a park in new Zealand and it's a huge arboretum and there are literally thousands of chickens walking around lol

Are you allowed to have roosters? I didn't necessarily want a rooster but ended up with one and now I'm trying to decide whether I want another one for my new flock or not. I realized I actually kind of like them
