Is my chicken a rooster?

Those birds are much older than 3 months ;)
but you can kinda see the difference in pattern over the shoulders.
Have seen these pics before as I have been searching to ID gender with my 2 SLW.
Will get some pics of mine nest to each other if I can.

Here are mine.
11-12 weeks old, they look different, but not sure if it's a gender difference.
They are hatchery birds, so not SOP to be sure, and should be pullets but....
...I suspect that at one at the bottom of all pics may be male.
Matter of fact I'm a bit disappointed in the lacing, but hoping it might get better with the nest and last juvenile molt, which should be happening in the next few weeks.

Sorry, I saw the 3-4 month after I was already posting. Plus I got my first set of error 502 messages since the new format. :he

Yours both appear female, IMO. My Wyandotte boys had bigger waddles than that by 8 weeks. And the lacing looks laced to me even though it's a little interesting, or not exact. Most my girls do also start to red up around this age verses the boys are usually pretty red by 8 weeks. I think one of your girls is just maturing a bit faster than the other, which is not uncommon. Also, not much iridescence coming in yet though the girls do still get some in the black portion of the lacing. And legs still look slender... No pointy saddle feathers yet, are they coming in on your other boy in the pic already? :pop

I would say rooster it seems to be standing very strait while hens lean forward a bit
Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

It could be said that is generally true.. but there are not too many definites when it comes to behavior.... Hens do crow, roosters do egg sing, everybody chest bumps and has at least little spur bumps. One of my Silkie hens stands nice and tall pretty often and can even strut like that for a bit... a new local chicken friend has a Red Sex Link that is broody. The more I see, the less surprises me. :)

Hope you have a great time here, the breed/gender games is one of my favorite! :highfive:

Yes, he's an EE, and I have 1 of 3 marans cockerels that's sprouting some definitely shiny hackles and saddles, tho the other 2 have not, yet... all of those are the same age and 2 weeks younger than the SLW's. All 4 cockerels I knew by 4-6 weeks.

I know SLW are slower to mature and hard to ID by comb/wattle at ~6wks...time will tell. As as soon as I know gender I'll probably sell the SLW's, bought them on a lark and they don't really fit my program, space is at premium.

So, we have a Silver Laced Wyandotte that is about 3 months old. We got "her" over a month ago thinking we were getting a hen. We sent a photo to the farmer we buy from a he said she looks a lot like a young roo, but isn't sure. We can't have roosters in our town, though. She hasn't crowed or anything yet and is at the bottom of the pecking order. Anyone think they know?
Definitely a rooster! Hopefully he can find a good home! He's very pretty :)
