Is my chicken dying?

I see the vet is already coming..
Marek's Virus FAQ

It really isn't curable.. she MIGHT recover.. and possible have outbreaks again in the future.. I personally cull for it. It takes 3 weeks for symptoms to appear.. and can be aggravated by stress.. like moving.

Get only vaccinated chicks in the future if you cannot accept the possibility of this happening again.. and QUARANTINE while the vaccine takes effect.. it won't stop the disease.. it ONLY hides the symptoms that often lead to death.. like this paralysis you are seeing which invites predation, flock aggression, and parasites plus might prevent them from reaching food if not helped.

I'm sorry you face this.. AND it could be something else, like malnutrition if you somehow aren't using a formulated ration or are feeding excess treats. What is her actual age, was she vaccinated, what do you feed regularly including treats and supplements?

Consider sending the bird to your state poultry lab to get a necropsy and confirm cause..

I hope I'm wrong and sorry you face this. :hugs

I would get the vets opinion while they're out, if they have avian experience, but personally wouldnt go all in on an expensive solution if that's their answer.
Ya, I updated my second suggestion when I saw I had missed they were coming out anyways. Farm vets that make home visits are often reasonably priced as well as usually knowledgeable and PRACTICAL according to their patrons' desires.

It's $55, just for my (avian) vet to LOOK at an animal and tell me what I already know but sometimes NEED their professional opinion to ease MY conscience and it's worth EVERY penny. Veterinarians are a valuable resource. :thumbsup

However, I'm not the one making the decision.. so expressing that to the original poster might be more effective than expressing it to me. ;)

It was a follow up to your post, basically agreeing not to go crazy but no harm in asking. I figure OP reads the whole thread. 😋

I agree on vet visits. Just the sheer number of animals I have, if I could pay one price for the appointment instead of per pet, that would be so awesome.

Thank you everyone for helping!! The vet did just come, checked on our other animals and we asked her about the chicken. She was able to quickly conclude that it is Mareks :( . I don't have any experience culling chickens but am willing to. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether I should cull her or just let Mareks kill her? I feel like culling her would be more quick and less painful.
