Is my coop big enough?

Hello,

I have 40 chicks that are getting to the point to where they need to get moved to a coop in the next few weeks. I just finished designing the plan for my coop and I was just wanting to get opinions and ideas on if my coop is big enough or not.

The coop is going to be 10x10 feet. (8.5x10 feet once you add nests and feed/water)

It is going to have 42 feet of roost.

And any ideas on how big I should make the run?

Is this to big or to small?
Thanks for your ideas and opinions in advance.

Basically get rain/snow over winter, and sun during the summer and a mixture in between.

Rarely gets below 25 degrees or above 100 degrees.

I'd make the run as large *and as sheltered* as possible, if you want to keep all 40 birds. You're still pushing your luck with what'll happen over the winter. Remember it is way easier to avoid a picking/cannibalism problem than to deal with it once it arises (some people end up having to cull the entire flock

Good luck,

In my opinion, yes, it is too small for 40 standard size chickens.

How many chickens would you estimate it would hold?
