I've been hatching an egg for a while now and it pipped very recently. I only saw the pip this morning and noticed that the inner membrane was yellow, which meant that it was dried out. I looked at other posts and tried to give it moisture, so it now has a wet paper towel around it, but I can see its beak trying to break through the membrane, but I think it is too dry. It looks like there is a tiny hole in the membrane.... What must I do??? I'm kinda stressing 15709707798714453602941257613062.jpg

Several people have commented that applying coconut oil to the membrane, with a cotton swab, had helped a lot.

it pipped very recently.
How recently?
Coconut oil is the thing to use....if anything at all.
Wet paper towel can chill egg, and water will just dry back out fast, not a good idea.

Best really to just give it time.
Are you using an incubator...or...?
Why is there straw there?
What is the humidity level?

I keep making sure that the egg isn't getting cold. I've noticed that the water isnt working, so ive given up on that. The first pip was yesterday afternoon-evening. I only realised that the membrane was yellow this morning. It must've been about 12 hrs since it first popped and about 3-4 hrs since the duck broke the membrane.
