I was out in the run taking pictures and wondering if my splash hen is laying yet (I really thought she was), then I looked at her and all of a sudden she looks like a roo! Have I been in denial all this time?

Her name was Teeny Marilyn, but I think I might have to change it...

Tell me if this is a pullet or cockerel please....

Just two or three weeks ago, she looked like this...

    Today....she/he looked like this...

    What do you think?

    It's a great looking chicken!
I'm new to chickens but if I saw that one in somebody's yard I'd think it's a rooster.

Wow, I think she/he had a sex change?!? It totally looks like a pullet at a glance in the first pictures, and then suddenly there are roo-like tail feathers and pointy neck feathers.

I think it looks like a rooster now, but not 100% certain.

I was going to say that it was a hen, but those tail feathers lead me to believe otherwise....

Quote:It's like it went through some kind of express puberty or something! I could not believe it when I came in and looked at the pics next to each other.

Whew. A late bloomer. We had one of those. We were waiting for him to lay an egg. All the "other" hens the same age were starting to lay. He never laid an egg and one day it dawned on me she was a he. The kids still called him a girl up until we culled him. [IMG]
