is my puppy abnormally smart or what? :D

Labs are usually very quick learners and extremely loyal. Dachshunds on the other hand have one brain cell that misfires more often than not. However, they are extremely entertaining, especially when they forget that their back end is facing the chicken run and decide to back up to get a better look at a person. Seems certain parts of an intact male dachshund's anatomy look a bit like chicken snacks. Male dachshunds can also jump straight up about 3 ft when they back up too close to the chicken run

No, your Lab pup has a brilliant owner who took the time to make training fun!

Yeah, brilliant is not a word that comes to mind when I think of labs. 20 yrs of teaching puppy classes have jaded me. He may indeed forget everything, or as he picks new stuff up temporarily forget the old stuf. Its like they have to make space in their brains. Don't panic though if he does, it will come back!

Brilliant is the first word that comes to mind about Labs...at least those that I have owned. None of mine ever forgot any training...particularly this last one. He learned all the moves the OP describes at 3 mo. of age and hasn't forgotten a thing. Anything I teach him takes about 20 min., if that, and he has it down solid.

My first one came to me at age 4 and was fully trained and learned many other things as he went along, without any formal training sessions. He was the most amazing dog I've ever known and the whole town mourned when he passed away~he had made so many of his own friends that I had to post his pic in the obits so that people would stop calling me to ask where he was.

Labs are so eager to please that they are tuned into your every nuance and seem to anticipate what you will want before you ask. All other breeds seem extraordinarily dull and stubborn after I've owned Labs.

Thats great!! You have a great dog, I have 2 Cattle dog x ridgebacks ATM and they are 10 weeks, they can do all those tricks also, but I have had them since birth..... As for names I really like unusual unique names.... I don't like Bella and Roxy, or Charlie

But thats me.... my pups are named Zeeah and Bullet, and mum is Dajeerrah.

Sounds like he is smart, but the owner is smarter.

I see so many people who don't begin training at an early age. I start training the day I get a dog. I have a Jack Russell who was sitting and staying at about 8 weeks old. He recently became a therapy dog. Now if only I got off my butt and took him on hospital visits.
