Can any of you tell if my Rhode Island Red is a rooster? All 3 chickens are 6 months old now. The Red just grew those longer tail feathers in the last couple of weeks, and today I was comparing it's comb to the other two & it looks a little bigger too.

The Black Australorp's tail feathers were all picked out when I first got them (mid Sept.), so they're just now growing back in.

The BA & the RIR still look to be about the same size. The other is a White Leghorn, so it's supposed to be smaller.

The red is a cockerel as is the white one...but the white one isn't a Leghorn.

White one looks like a Red-Sex-Link male to me....notice the red ear lobes? Leghorns have white earlobes.

The RIR is definitely a roo. That big long green tailfeather is one of his sickles. Soon, he'll have a nice, big red comb and wattles and will practice crowing. RIR roosters are gorgeous and good flock protectors.
