Is my rooster fixed?

Have you opened an egg up and checked for the blastoderm? When ever I open an egg, I check for fertility to see how well my roo is doing. You either have to check an egg when you open it, or incubate it for a week, and then candle it.

Thankyou, I didn't know that you should open the egg and check the blastoderm.

Honestly, you could probably just but some in a incubator and wait a week and then candle. I would assume they are all fertile if the roo is regularly mounting the hens. You can't tell if an egg is fertile by candling unless if has been incubating for a few days.

No, I thought you weren't supposed to incubate an egg unless you see signs its fertilized.

There's no way to see if it's fertile or not by candling, unless you've had in an incubator for about five days, at which point the embryo will have started to grow and you'll see veins.

If you want to check without doing that, you have to crack them open and look for a blastoderm, as has been said :) Chances are your eggs are fertile.
