Is my silkie rooster "Show Quality" or somewhat close to Show quality? Would he be good to cross with my frizzle hen?

Hey y'all! I have recently began accepting rescues and stuff again and have been getting some lovely boys lately. I just got 2 silkie brothers named Tweety (Buff tophat? Bearded?) and Sylvester (Syl) (black bearded? with leakage on neck.) Tweety looks like a pretty good quality silkie to me (though I haven't shown silkies before only other breeds) and I was wondering if he may be "show quality" or somewhat close to show quality? I don't really care. Just want to know how good Tweety's quality is, if Tweety would be a good roo to cross with my red frizzle cochin, if he is considered buff or red, is he just bearded or is he tophat bearded and what can I expect chicks to look like from this cross? Obviously chicks will be F1 Sizzles but how about color? All buff or red? Some with black skin some with pink? 5 toes? Any info will help! Thanks! ❤❤

I think Tweety would be good to cross with your Cochin, but the chicks won't be sizzles, just frizzles. To get sizzles you would have you breed them back to another silkie. They will most likely all have 5 toes and probably black skin too. They will probably be a red color.


If Sylvester has leakage on his neck, he is not show quality. You could show Tweety but he is not exactly "show quality" either.

I figured they weren't show quality. Especially since they don't have the dark skin on the face and stuff. I have no plans to show them just wanted to know. Is he considered a tophat bearded though? Is his color considered red or buff?

I think she means crested. We don't use "tophat" in Silkies, thats usually polish...
