I went and felt his breasts but I can’t tell. I’ve never had turkeys, just ducks, geese and chickens. I should have taken my scale. He seems small to me unless he puffs up like he did for that picture I posted.
Here he is compared to my Bantam roosters, he free ranges with them all day. Siren is in the background, she stays in the pen with the hens.

If that's a bantam, I'm going to lean toward heritage. My standards don't look much bigger compared to Niles (my 4h tom this year)

Griphon might get that big if I don’t stop “treating” him, he’s addicted to meal worms and canned cherries. But, I see what they mean when they say BB stand with feet wide apart. I wonder if that’s a true predictor, however? Seems natural feet would set wider apart as they grow bigger.

I don't know about the leg width thing, but it might be true.

I wouldn't reply on it. Niles still had close feet and he's about 30 pounds now. He still stands one in too of the other most times.

Even if he turns out to be a BB you shouldn't panic. If they are kept to a strict diet and get lots of exercise it is possible for them to live longer and healthy lives! I've heard 2 to 3 years is common, and read one thread here where one lived to 9. Keep food to a minimum, not a free-for-all, and make sure they can range. All the walking all day and staying active will help more than anything. We have a BBW and are optimistic about him being a long-term pet. He ranges with our chickens through the day and sleeps beneath their roost at night. He has the coolest personality and is more social than the chicks. Good luck with yours!
