Is one a rooster?

I got these 2 chicks at 2 weeks old. I was told they are both pullets they are 4 ish weeks old now (I am guessing)
They have different wings. On one the wings goes across the back. On one they go under the tail feathers. Is one a male? They are supposed to be americana if that helps. Are they just growing different or is one male and one female?

This is the only one I'd be concerned about. That comb looks a bit large if that chick is the same age as the others.

The grey one looks to be a rooster.
But I'm not sure if you were asking about that one lol... the other 3 look to be hens to me, BUT it is still early.
I have Amerecauna/BCM crosses and I knew by 6 weeks they were roosters because of the saddle feathers growing in. They have pea combs so there wasn't much for me to go by with that early on.

Don't go by the wing shape when looking for Rooster characteristics.
You'll want to factor in 3 main areas that will tell you if its a rooster before you ever hear him crow:

1) Comb size and redness- keep in mind each breed is different with the kind of combs they have, but if you have a few of the same breeds of chicks, the same age, its easy to tell which one has a bigger comb and/or if it is redder in color.
2) Leg size and body size- Again, this is easier to spot if you have the same age chicks, but a rooster will have thicker legs and a slightly bigger body than the hens after a few weeks of age.
3) Saddle and Hackle feathers- These will be pointy on Roosters. I call it their "fringe" . The feathers are flowy on their necks, and drape over their tails, and will be a different color than the rest of their plummage most of the time. Hens will have rounder ends on theirs.


I'm sure if I'm missing something, someone else will chime in and fill in the gaps!

All are pullets, in my opinion. The blue one has a reasonable comb for a female of that age.
