Is our rhode island red a male or a female?

I'm looking at the comb and saddle feathers, and I'm going to side with those folks saying male. He looks like a really nice little fella!

FYI My male RIRs did not get saddle feathers per sa. The area where they came in remained bald with quill stubs for a long time before they finally came in. At first I thought there was something wrong with them.

It looks an awful lot like my RIR hens did when they were about that size. They often stood tall and had pretty decent sized combs. They both lay eggs now.

But I think you should wait a few weeks longer and see how it develops.

I would say boy! My RIR did not have a comb for awhile, then when she matured it grew big!! I have only had a couple, but I really think its a boy!
