Is she a Americana chicken?

DId you check out the photos of black stars on feathersite? There are a variety of patterns, not just barring. Several of them do have a rather columbian look to them. Yes, the colouring does look rather columbian.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... you'd better run and hide, the Ameraucana police will be after you for that thread title....

My ID was based upon the breeds the breeder said he/she had. None matched the chick except possibly the black star, so I checked feathersite and it looks like a fair match.

Not a cross I have any personal experience with--just looking through the stated choices and seeing what looked like the only possible choice.

Sorry about the spelling...well this pic is the first pic i took of her when we got home. The black on next to her is the barred rock. And she is the only one I have out of that bunch. Dogs got the rest of them. She might be a mix, but I'm not sure. I've never had chicken before.

This is one of the most confusing posts I've ever read.

Why would you be asking if it was something the breeder said he didn't have?

And why would a "breeder" not be telling you EXACTLY what he was selling you?

Please keep in mind that those of us on here refer to a "breeder" as a lot more than someone who just hatches eggs and sells the chicks from those eggs.

As an Ameraucana "breeder", I can tell you that you do NOT have an Ameraucana. You also need to know that there is no such thing as an "Americana". What is sometimes sold as an "Americana" is in reality an Easter Egger and that breed also does not technically exist.

As an Ameraucana, Barnevelder, and Welsummer "breeder", I can tell you that I have NEVER had a customer walk away and not know EXACTLY what breed of chicken they were getting.

I hope that helps.

God Bless,

I am soooooo sorry that I spelled it worng, I've never had chickens. And who cares about the spelling. He told us what he had and she just didn't look like the pics I saw. So excuse me for wanting to know what she was, and asking for help. I came here to ask for help not to get fussed at about the spelling of a chicken.

Thanks to those who are helping me.
