I have a black australorp "hen" who is about 2 months old. I took the her and the other 3 chicks she is with outside today. I noticed her tail feathers are much longer then the other 3. She also holds her tail very erect. A few times when she was nervous she raised her hackle feathers like a rooster. She was the one that walked around and did the "this-is-a-new-place-is-it-safe" cluck. Her comb and wattle seem even smaller then the others, but could "she" actually be a roo?
