Is she holding onto her egg?

Thank you, will find out our hot water bottle then, do I place it under the straw?

If it isn't too hot to be against your skin, you can set her right on top of it, maybe with a towel between if you are concerned with keeping it clean.
When you apply the oil or lubrication, you can gently try to massage around the vent to help encourage muscle relaxation. That may gross you out, but you can always wear gloves and/or wash your hands. She's just an animal that needs care, nothing Weird about that.

Had a look at her this morning and could no longer see anything there, had a good feel too?! I did however find bits of shell within the coop but I can't tell whether that has come from her or the egg we put in with them to get them thinking about laying. Did put a hot water bottle in the for her though just in case. Will let you know if anything more happens.
