I am not sure. I have 2 Buffs and when they get ready to lay they sound different. I do, however, have a 28 week old Black Australorp hen that makes that exact sound from time to time, but she seems to make it more when she is hot or irritated. Hmm.....I dunno but good luck
I swear, they were setting up an opera in the hen house today. They were singing their head off.
I swear one of them crowed, so loudly, with such commitment, that I went out to be sure someone hadn't fooled me, and was really a rooster.
my hen is singing that same song and she laid her very first egg yesterday it was small and brown and we were not around to c it today she is singing that same tune and made the funniest looking nest in the box i have ever seen, i believe she is going to lay but i have no idea as this is my first time raising chickens and she is my first of four layers... i have the same question as u so *bump*
