Haha, don't do that! Gross huh! I love love love using the puppy pads! makes clean up just take a minute. They are outside all day so at least I don't have to clean up the grass. I keep moving their outside play pen.Ick! I may throw out my eggs.![]()
OMG that is my worst fear! I don't use a heat lamp. Just an old fashioned regular bulb that you can hardly find anymore in a clamp on lamp with a red bowl cover over it. I only hatch once the weather gets warm so I don't have to worry with much heat.I got the puppy pads for my eggs. It will be my first time using them. I also got a momma heat thingy. I have always used a brood lamp but last time it fell and caught the bedding on fire and I almost lost my duckies and my barn. No more heat lamps for me.
Looks not too bad, i remember my kiddie-pool brooder after the ducklings gulped down their first salad… Green poo everywhere!OK, this is from about 7 pm last night until this morning just to refresh your mind! It is not only the fire danger of the heat lamp, it is also that any Momma Heat Thing is more natural for the little ones. Broody hens usually don't glow or emit bright light at their bellies, do they? My ducklings were calmly sleeping during the dark hours, peeping peacefully in their dreams and had a lot of energy during the day. There is still a difference between my Runners - raised under a heat lamp and this years duck(lings). The Runners completely freak out if it is dark and no light is on in the duck-house. The new ducks just go back to sleep.OMG that is my worst fear! I don't use a heat lamp. Good point about the momma cave. I need to build one for next year. I've got a year to find the basket like you got.
