Is the earlobe color true?

So I read on the internet that the chickens' earlobes indicate what color of egg it lays. This is true with my chickens, but does this work with all chickens? I read that chickens with red earlobes lay brown eggs, and chickens with white earlobes lay white eggs.

Lots of breeds have white earlobes and lay white, others have red earlobes and lay brown. But that's just a coincidence
