Ants?

I'm just getting started & neither my Barred Rocks, Australorps, Production Reds nor Red Broilers have any interest in eating ants.

Meal worms are like crack to them but they could care less about ants.

Are there any breeds that have a propensity for eating ants?

Yes I know it's a weird question, but...

Sevin dust is the best breed I've found for ants. The bantams like to pick at them more than the standards, but no where near as much as I'd like them to!!! The phrase "breed like rabbits" should be breed like ants!!!! BTW, DE does not work against my ants, but that's what people will tell you in about 10 minutes....

My silkies like ants as well but unfortunately the only time they eat them is when My five year old catches the ant, squish it and place it in the treat dish in the coop. then I have to pick up the little spoiled darlings and place them in front of the treat dish and stand guard so the bigger girls don't take the ants from them! I love my two silkies but foragers they are not.

None of my flock are interested in ants. I have a mix of hatchery birds---ee, barred rock, buff orp, brown leghorn, rir, glw. I also have some non-hatchery bantam cochins who couldn't care less. They all like most other type of bugs, but not ants. Or the little pill bugs.
