Is there a dentist in the house? mahonri????

Several hours later the pain meds have worn off and my jaw is swollen, sore and throbbing off and on. That's only part 1. I still have part 2 to go. But I think the worst is now behind me. I had 5 shots before I was numb enough that he didn't make me nearly jump straight up to the ceiling.

YIKES!!!! i hope you have pain pills.

Does anyone know if pain pills are necessary when a wisdom tooth is pulled?

Um, yes!!!!! Usually root canals shouldn't hurt, but then again, it depends on how long they were in there....

I have never needed a pain med for an extraction. I had 3 of my wisdom teeth done when I was in my late 30's. Other then being a little swollen for a couple days I never had one twinge of pain.

A root canal can be painful afterward but not from nerve pain (unless the dentist missed something). After having 5 different shots around the tooth and in both side of the gum and one sort of under the tongue my mouth is sore. He warned me my jaw would be rather sore for a day or two. The last time I had a root canal my jaw was bruised on the outside.
