Is there a learning curve to laying eggs?

A few of our chicks are starting to lay and sometimes they are TEENY eggs and sometimes they are HUGE...and one egg came out with wrinkles in the tip of the shell...

I haven't seen this before with any of our past hens...is something wrong or are they just learning how to lay an egg???

The eggs taste great and look fine on the inside...

It takes awhile for the egg-laying machinery to work all the kinks out. Different size eggs, slight color variations, irregular intervals, multiple yolks, etc. often are seen. It's just part of the fun of having your very own chickens!
