I've been raising Phoenix bantams for a couple years and thought it interesting to find others who are also raising Phoenix.

These chicks just hatched yesterday-five chicks all together.

If there wasn't, it looks like there is, now! Your rooster is one handsome little fellow ... and Mama and babies are no slouches, either! I've been s\fsascinated by Phoenix for awhile now, myself. I don't have room to add another breed at the moment (I raise Nankin bantams,) but if I did, I think Phoenix banties would be my top choice. If I could find them in a red pyle (which I'm not even sure exist, I just love the coloration,) I don't think I'd wait. I'd raise them in the bathroom if I had to!

I'm not sure what red pyle is. I do have a few black-breasted reds. A dog killed my red rooster and hen, but I was lucky enough to have a few of his eggs hatch. I won't get any more of these until next spring when these red are old enough to breed. So for now, I have 5 white phoenix (two roos and 3 hens) to play around with. Then next spring I'll need to cross the white phoenix with the red phoenix, unless I am lucky enough to find some good red breeding stock. Most of what I'm seeing are not what I want.

Beautiful birds!
THANK YOU. I was quite pleased when the five chicks hatched. After losing my reds, I'm paranoid about the possibility of losing the five adults that I have. I've been looking for phoenix hatching eggs and, as a result, I'm realizing how fortunate I am to have the few phoenix I have.

This is one of the hens when she was a pullet. Numerous people insisted she was a young cockerel because of her long tail.

And my other white rooster.

Most of the Red Pyes I've seen are in Old English Game Bantams. My favorite OEGB was a red pyle, so I thnk that's why I like them so much. I don't know if the color even exists in a Phoenix bantam, but it sure would make for a gorgeous little bird!

This is not my bird, but it's a good image of the color variation.

I do have two birds that are very similar in color, BUT I did some cross breeding to get the color. They are 3/4ths phoenix and 1/4 silkie. They are interesting as they have the longer tail with a crest and feathered feet. One is a hen and the other is too young to sex.
