is there a way to tell if a chicken is to old to lay eggs?

Check her keel. The pointy part of her breast bone. If it's flexible, she's younger. My two year old hens breast bones are rigid. Not that I'm telling you to squeeze her breasts or anything (I know how Mardi Gras is!).
