Hey guys,

Sadly after giving Maestro a week, we finially had to call it a night.

He was unable to walk on his own really, after taking the plaster off it was obvious that the bones in the leg were not right,
he was unable to feed/water himself (even with help feeding him was hard) and his eyes were still sunken. On top of this
he had not put on any weight really and was tiny.

As much as I loved the little guy (he had loads of character) it was just so unfair to keep him alive....

Thanks for all you help and advice, I feel evil for how it turned out but I didn't want him to suffer anymore....

It's hard, I had to cull a little guy last night that had a bad case of twisty foot. He was constantly in pain (at least from his constant cheeping it seemed like he was) and I tried bandaids and tape and such, but he just couldn't eat or walk and I had to let him go.

I'm so sorry for you both. It was right to let him go, as hard as I'm sure it was. Best wishes for the rest of the hatch.

I'm so sorry for you - how hard. Sending peaceful vibes your way.

Thanks

I think I must be little crazy as I was a tad emotional - and by a tad I mean crying my eyes out.
Just feel really guilty about it but I know it needed to be done.

Aww I am so sad to hear that

You did the very best you could and sometimes things are beyond our control. I agree with your decision to cull as hard as that probably was for you, it was for the best for both you and the bird.
