other then that about the only thing you can do is wait outside (i usually do this, as i enjoy being outside with the chickens).. or check every hour or so, memorize the time she laid.. and it should be the same or close to the next day.

im not sure about this for the fact that she will lay in the evening and at nite. the reason that i say this is bc she laid one in the evening about 7ish that i saw and in the morning there was a broken one that my roo ate should i just look in the evening?

Catch and separate your roo into another cage for a day or two. That way he can't eat your eggs and you can collect them for hatching and they should still be fertile. He'll be upset probably, but you will get some eggs!

that'd probably work.

Also wouldn't hurt to do what Go suggested, eggs can stay fertile about 2-3 weeks (some say up to 4) without a rooster..

Techno hubby says you could also buy a baby moniter and stick it in one of the nest boxes to listen in on when they are laying. Hope you get some eggs to hatch!

That's what I would do! You should get fertile eggs for at least 2 weeks once you separate him.

Also, it sounds like it is time to look into getting a new roo. I have not heard of anyway to stop egg eating once it gets started.

Good Luck!

feed them eggs until they stop so they get what they need (usually takes about 3 days) or put, wooden, plastic, egg shaped rocks, or golf balls in the nest.. Let them free range for long periods of time, and plenty more ways to stop it too. even when it becomes a habit.
