is there any way i can make sure my chicks get tame...

aww!..your birds are beautiful...they all look so healthy!..thanks for the info..Wendy;o)

IME handling them makes a big difference. The first hen we got is a retired show bird who was our only one for a while went back and forth between a chicken tractor and our basement-lots of handling. Hen #2 began life and spent her first weeks in a third-grade classroom, then spent another week or 2 living with one of the kids from that class before coming to us. Those 2 are very friendly. The 1st one even lets my almost-2-year-old pick her up.
Hens 3 and 4 are from a farm where they were always with other chickens. They view us as a source of food and that's it.
Now we have 2 new chicks and are making sure we spend lots of time with them and pick them up so they get used to us.

At that age, the only treat I gave them was chopped up boiled egg. It was a big hit.

We always fed it to them by hand, just to make them come to us. Now, they know the sound of my voice and run up to me looking for treats.

ITA, I have 5 ameraucanas and with the exception of one (who I think is a rooster), they are the most skittish birds of my 33. They stay as far away from us as they can. The friendliest ones at 4 weeks are my Chanteclers and my Buff Brahma, they will come and sit on our feet and hands and seem to enjoy being held. My Buff Catalanas and my Barnevelders are beginning to see us as a food source (they rush away from us when we open the coop door, and then rush back up to us when they realize who it is). Our Polish seem to be very shy, but easy to handle once you have picked one up.

Between 7 of us in the family, we handle them frequently. We have given them all left over corn (off the cob) which they have eaten from our hands and seem to enjoy.

Treats for my Chickie include spiders and crickets. I agree, handle and snuggle with them. I put Chickie in my shirt for the extra warmth that she needed when out of her box. She just loved nuzzling next to me, even burrowing under my arm when I was sitting at the pc.
