Is there anyone from SE Connecticut?

Hi everyone! I've been posting on the larger CT thread which has seemed quiet. I'm in Waterford CT, not SE CT. Having chickens is fun! I got my first batch of chicks August 2012. Nearly killed myself trying to build the coop and shed but it's quite functional now. My advice for those starting out is to make sure the coop is

1) sized correctly for the number of birds you want
2) finished before getting the birds
3) the run is secure and big enough - standard size breeds are bigger than you think

I really like having our shed (attached to the coop) to store all the wood shavings and feed etc.

Don't be afraid to jump in - I hatched my 1st chicks around thanksgiving! That was fun for the whole family to see.

I am located in North Stonington, would love to see photos of your coop, we will be rebuilding a new coop this spring and I just love seeing other coops and what works for them the best.

I have been hatching out chicks and are selling some. They are a barnyard mix. Some may be frizzled and some are turkens and some are just regular mixed breeds. The breeds of hens I have are great egg laying hens. I have 7 chicks left for sale. I live in Pawcatuck, ct.

What is the black one second from the bottom? Is that a duck? And Turken? Turkey's will breed with chickens?
