Is there no coming back from this besides going to the vet? Is my other option to put her down?

If you wrap with the co wrap well, I don't think the baby sock is really necessary. I found that with the sugardine and the duoderm bandage, it was soft enough at each bandage change that soaking wasn't really needed. I was able to clean it up with tweezers or q tips or the curette I sometimes use. If I needed to flush I just used a large oral syringe with sterile saline or diluted chlorhexidine, and flushed as needed that way. Then dried it off well with papertowels, and reapplied the sugardine, and rebandaged. If there is dirt on toes or places that aren't wrapped, I just use the chlorhexidine and a soft rag, or qtips to clean those area's up.

That's a relief to hear because I really hate soaking. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for all your help!

Hi @coach723 ,
Day 2 of sugardine and the bottom of her foot looks much better. However, the top of her foot is worsening. That little toe is cutting itself off from the foot and looks like it wants to fall off. :(

Has the wrap been too tight? I'm not clear on what was going on with the top of the foot all along, was that from the initial infection?
If blood flow was affected, either from bandaging or infection, then the toe could self amputate. You can also use the sugardine on the top of the foot, see if it helps. I would be very careful wrapping, make sure it's only just tight enough to keep everything in place and protected. It's very easy to make it too tight.

I've tried to make it not too tight but I've been applying Neosporin to the top of the foot and a gauze pad and it gets thick. The top of the foot was affected shortly after the bumblefoot came. It seemed to respond to amoxicillin and looked fine yesterday but it looks like the skin is peeling off a lot today.

If I use sugardine on the top of the foot should I use a hydrocolloid dressing too?

Not necessarily, since it's not a draining wound. Try it without, see if it makes any difference. The co wrap should help it stay for a while. You could also use a small piece of plastic wrap, not wrapped around, just over that spot, then wrap with the co wrap. Make sure she can't pull it out. I use a poultice of echinacea on my husband for insect bites because he has terrible reactions to them, and cover that with plastic wrap to keep it moist and then wrap with co wrap, so it does work.

Thank you, I'll try the sugardine on the top of the foot. I found a very old thread from someone that had something similar. I can't seem to find it again but that person said tetracycline and foot soaks helped. It also reminds me of when I had MRSA back in 2008 and I needed steroid cream and antibiotics, I think it was doxycycline.

The doxycycline I ordered should get here by Thursday. I emailed the company to see if they could speed up the shipping because I'm not sure if it's been shipped yet.
