Is this a Australorp? And gender if possible

Marans are often considered a slower-maturing breed -- though there are undoubtedly variations between hatchery and breeder birds and from one hatchery and/or breeder to another. :)

they definitely are slow maturing breed but they show their combs starting at 10 days old. some take 2-3 weeks. as for wattles even late bloomers show them early. the problem is that at 6 weeks even girls might have some wattles and that becomes tricky.

Here are some updated pics. 'she' is now 8 weeks and 4 days old.
Any more thoughts? I'm inclined to pullet, but it has got more wattle development then the other pullets.
I feel it could still go either way.
No copper showing anywhere yet!

I got 12 shipped eggs, 8 were meant to be Marans, and 4 were meant to be Australorps. There were 12 dark brown eggs, and 4 cream eggs. None of the cream eggs hatched so I thought all 7 chicks I ended up with were Marans.
However, one of the chicks looks like an Australorp?View attachment 3353329View attachment 3353330I'm rather puzzled how it came from a dark egg.... and half wondered if it could be a cross?
Also, any idea on sex? I'm thinking most likely cockerel.
I think you're right on gender, but not sure on breed or cross.
Are your marans the french variety?
