I would suggest NOT getting some and leaving it to the breeders who know what they are doing. It is very difficult breeding the black ones because of the lethal gene.

That is so cool. I did a science fair project on the what sences the betta use in determining whether they will be aggressive or not. ie color, shape, or both. I won 2nd place in the penn state science fair in the bio department

Since then I have seen so many new ones with sredded tails and such. Very cool fish. Birch Run!

I'm not stopping you. But don't expect to get much out of them if you tried to breed 'em.
