We ordered in 18 Buff Orpington Eggs weeks ago, 12 hatched but one was very different. We contacted the breeder and she said she thought it could be a Blue Cochin, as the egg labelling system would make them look very similar (BO and BC) but was difficult to tell immediately after hatch! Now he’s quite a bit older we’re after a bit of confirmation, but we haven’t had a reply yet, so we’re wondering if we could get any help here. In these pictures he is 7 weeks old and looking very fancy!

Is that a pea comb or a single comb? Looks like a pea comb in the first, hard to tell in the second. As for color, looks like a splash.

Oh very good, thank you! Yes, it is a pea comb. He's developing slower than the buffs but by his behaviour we're pretty certain he's a he.

I'm debating between lavender and splash, but looks like a Brahma! Lucky to get such a rare color and a gorgeous bird! I'm jealous! 😂

Yes, he is absolutely stunning! Unfortunately our flock is only big enough for one rooster, so we need to choose between him and one of our gorgeous buffs 😬 (luckily we've been able to find good homes for the others 😊)
