Thanks! I took a little bit more shell off around his face but not enough that he can stick his head out. I tried to take off more shell but like I mentioned, the entire top of the egg is fractured so every time I try to chip little bits of shell away, it cracks more extending from the hole to the top of the shell. I think he’ll be alright for now since he can breathe and if he looks completely ready in the morning I will take off more shell because I fear that a lot will come off. Thanks for your help! It’s going to be another sleepless night! I’ve got alarms set for every two hours! I’m worried that he could potentially turn and block off his air so I’m going to wake up and check that his bill is out of the hole.

Me too! They are wonderful! Sometimes loud though especially the hens. In my opinion they are very manageable. They are not nearly as messy as my Pekins, they don’t take up very much space, they’re pretty hardy despite their size, and they don’t eat very much either (at least compared to the Pekins and my guineas), plus they’re outright adorable and very nice! I think you should get some! These are my first calls and I got them in March. They are my favorite breed of duck so far! (Ps don’t tell the Pekins they are already jealous) I had wanted them forever and decided to get some with nothing else to do!

That sounds like a good plan. They definitely are! I’d only had jumbo Pekins constantly for 10 years so it was quite the change! I got my first Pekins as a kid and just fell in love with ducks! Now I still have Pekins but have added the calls as well.

Ok. I really hope so, I’ve never wished so hard for a tantrum to occur lol! I will be so happy once it hatches. Sadly I will probably have to take a nap before admiring it’s cuteness... if it’s not out by morning I’m might have to start paying my friend for making her come every 2 hours and check him while I work... also for blowing up her phone every second asking about the duckling and it’s progress! I think she will be happy when he hatches as well.

We've only had some mallards and some crested ducks but those got killed before they were full grown , I tried so hard to save them but it all happened in like a day ..oh wait the mallards are still alive but there with my sis .( The crestys were hers too but she was at work when the dog attacked the poor little things )

Aww, I’m so sorry that happened. It must have been really upsetting. Be comforted in the fact that you did everything you could to save them. Sorry for your loss. Glad the mallards are still alive . I’ve been through my fair share of predators as well. Had my 3 ducks killed by a raccoon while I was on vacation last year. Losing them was really hard since I had them for 5 years. Thankfully i had saved some of their egg in the fridge. Even though the eggs had been in there for 2 weeks I was able to get 3 to hatch. Those are the Pekins I have now. It’s like having a piece of my old ducks.
