Is This A Buff Orpington?

I was thinking Cornish X too. I don't know if it's the pics or what, but the legs look white to me too. Cornish X usually have yellow skin.

Well that bites!! Anybody have any baby buff hens for sale? LOL Guess that's what you get for buying chicks from tractor supply.

Well, that truly is disheartening. The kids and I have developed a strange love for these birds, thinking they would be around for a few years for egg production. we are going to try and find some buff babies somewhere. Any suggestions for this late in the season? Not to ready for my first cull either.... Dang tractor supply....

Well- they HAVE TO lay eggs- otherwise how would they reproduce? I have a dark cornish that is 2 years old and still laying well. She even went broody on me this year. If they are crossed with a rock then they have to be decent layers- no?

Sorry, these are the first chicks we've ever owned and we aren't very knowledgeable about them. We did some research on buffs and knew that they would be descent egg layers and would be docile mannered.

I don't know much about cornish x , but I think they don't live long. Since you've become attached to them- I'd keep them if you have room. You can still get year-end specials from some of the hatcheries if you can't find any buffs close to you.

If they are crossed with Rocks, they are nice birds too. You will have to be careful not to feed them too much, I have read that they can actually eat themselves to death! I read to feed them for 12 hours and take the food aways for 12 hrs
