Is this a chicken?

Hi! I’m new to chickens this year and after I got some chicks, a friend of mine found a lone chick that appeared the same size/ age as mine wandering in her neighborhood. So I trapped it and put it in with mine about a week ago... only problem is that it’s a very strange looking chicken.. I’m starting to wonder if it’s a chicken at all? Thoughts?

It does make chicken sounds, and also has chicken like feet. But it doesn’t have a comb forming and the others do... and it’s beak looks odd to me ? Is it just me or is this a strange looking chick?

And the only reason I was able to catch it was because I scattered chicken scratch in front of a dog kennel and it came running over for that. So it obviously knows what chicken scratch is? Right? Lol I have no idea

Looks like a chicken. I don’t know what quail chicks look like tho

It may be a breed that doesn’t have a large comb.

Hmmm- I just looked up pictures of quail chicks but they don’t look the same. I’m in Southern California (the Coachella valley) so the only other birds I can think of that are black and larger are crows.. but it has white on its face and crows don’t :/ I’m stumped.

Something makes me wonder if it may be a baby crow or ??

Okay so not a crow. I just googled baby crow images and the feet are wrong and the beak is different.
I have Naked Neck chicks and they do look very different and dinosaur-like compared to other breeds.
I hope some others chime in here and we can figure it out.
