Welcome to the world of house chickens! So my daughter works for TSC. She found this baby chick in a shipment. She has searched for any signs she has eyes and can't find any. Is this a common condition for chicks to be born with no eyes and what's her chance at a life with a flock?View attachment 1740865 View attachment 1740868 View attachment 1740869
Helen Keller with feathers!
If that's all that is wrong and there are no other hidden issues - like internal or neurological deformities - she just may make it, especially if you have her inside where you can keep an eye on her. If she does, consider using her as (don't laugh, I'm serious!) a therapy pet. My birds go on school visits, and the kids love them. They can't believe that Herman and Feisty walk on a leash, just like a dog. And the kids get a kick ou a a chicken in diapers, too. I'm willing to bet that a blind bird would resonate with anyone working with a disability - both children and adults!
