Is this a good enough excuse?

I have 4 one month old chickens and this morning as I do every morning I went in to fill their water and feeder and they are at the age where they want to be out with us. Well Beauty, my Australorpe was sitting on my arm and did not want to go back in. I'm wondering if "I can't come to work because my chickens want me to stay home and play" will be a good enough excuse?

HA, I'd get some serious grief for that one. My co-workers still give me grief for buying chickens as pets as they are all dog people.
