I got these in a dozen fertile hatching eggs from Meyer. Broody hatched them, then raised till 12 weeks till she died. Never did figure out why. I found her in the coop still warm. I gave her a good look over inside and out and found nothing out of the ordinary. Although she died of something.

Great looking birds, sorry to hear about your broody. They are definetly barred oeg's I have two breeding pairs myself and love them.

I was told they where Marans at first but Bantam Marans are a rarity. I called Meyer where I purchased the fertile bantam hatching eggs and they said OEGB. Cackle, Meyer, McMurry and Ideal doesn't even offer them. On the Henderson breed chart nothing is mentioned about Maran Bantams. Storey's guide to Poultry Breeds does mention bantam Marans but their tails are short and droopy. These photo's where taken when the birds where 13 weeks. Now going on 16 weeks their tails are getting even higher and longer. That is what pointed me and others here to Barred Old English Game Bantams. John

They are no doubt OEGBs not Marans but again they appear to be Cukoo which is a variety of OEGB.

DEFINITELY NOT Cuckoo Marans, they're way too small. I'm pretty sure they're Barred/Cuckoo OEGBs, but the first pic looks sort of like a Serama, but I'm positive that Seramas don't come in that color, plus, it isn't built exactly like one.
