This is considered partridge coloring for Silkies, yes? Just checking! 🙃

Hi everyone, first post here on byc!

When we bought this silkie the seller told us she was partridge colored. After looking at other silkies online and studying her coloring she seems to be a non standard color, like a mix between buff and partridge. She looks really light colored to me. I'm just curious if her coloring is actually partridge. Thanks a bunch!
Hi and welcome! I’m not as familiar with partridge variances but this is a photo of my partridge silkie (Or what I was told was a partridge). Yours is beautiful either way!

You are probably right, in that your bird might be a cross between two Silkie varieties. From a "slight" distance, a Partridge Silkie actually looks like it carries the partridge pattern, but it must be a good example. Otherwise, the double-lacing gets all mushed-up. Lacing on a Silkie must be just right or else it kind of funny. Keeping your bird s a broody hen is likely the best dispostition, since breeding her will only continue the non-pure appearance.
